It is for potential medical students in the United States and Canada. It is designed to evaluate problem solving, critical thinking, written analysis, and writing skills as well as knowledge of scientific concepts and principals. Caribbean Medical School is an American Global University School of Medicine. Provides a great education in the medical field.

The MCAT is offered 25 or more times a year at Prometric centers. The test lasts from 4.5-5 hours, and can be offered in the morning, evening, or both. The MCAT is made of sections, which include Physical Sciences, Verbal Reasoning, Writing Sample, and Biological Sciences. Everything except the writing sample is multiple choice.

The scoring for the MCAT is different than most tests. The three multiple choice sections can get a score of 1-15, 15 being the highest, and are added up to get a highest score of 45. Each essay is scored once by two readers, and each score is added together to get your total score.

Medical School Entry

Medical StudentGetting into school of medicine is not easy.  Many people say getting into medical school is the hardest part of receiving a medical education. Medical school entry requirements vary from school to school, but there is a basic set of courses and exams that is commonly accepted as basic medical school requirements. The commonly accepted coursework requires 1 year of general biology, physics with lab, general chemistry (inorganic) with a lab, organic chemistry with a lab, calculus, and English.

You will also need a strong GPA, above 3.5 is the best and you will need to take the medical school entry exam which is the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). MCAT scores are very important. If you get below a 28, you should take the MCAT again and try to improve your score. However, it is rumored that taking the MCAT more than three times could hurt your chances.

It is a good idea to take a MCAT test prep because an estimated 70%-80% of medical school applicants have taken it. To choose the right medical school, you can find medical school entry statistics that include the average MCAT score accepted, average GPA accepted, tuition, and various other things. These statistics can help you know what school would be right for you.

You want to apply to multiple schools; 1-2 schools that may be out of your range, several schools that you would be competitive getting into, and 1-2 back up schools. You will need to have a college degree, but it does not have to be in the sciences. Some medical schools like applicants who are not science majors because it shows diversity in the applicant.

English majors usually do well because they are use to reading a lot of information and have found ways to absorb information more effectively. If you want a science major, it will not hurt you. If you are going to do a research project as an undergrad, start early. Freshman year is not too early to start.
